The Truth about Tooth Extraction
Often tooth extraction is a necessary process and many people wonder how painful it is. While tooth extraction does hurt, there are ways dentists can help alleviate your pain.
1) Local Anesthesia
It involves first numbing the area around the tooth that needs to be extracted and then the dentist then gives local anesthesia via injection. The patient does not feel any pain and they can stay awake.
2) Sedation Anesthesia
This procedure can be given through laughing gas or a tablet for minimal sedation. This way the patient remains conscious but may feel a bit drowsy.
3) General Anesthesia
The simple procedure involves being injected by IV in the arm or inhaling the anesthesia through the nose.
